Plan your ceremony in
one of the major cultural meccas of the western world. Even a simple civil
ceremony in Venice will take on an aura of grandness as you step into the sun
with the Grand Canal stretching out at before you. A decorated gondola can take
you to your reception, or start partying on the vaporetto with all of your
guests. There are a number of great hotels, in this unique city, but the Gritti
and the Danieli are the most legendary. Both have indoor or outdoor seating for your reception. The Gritti,
especially, will evoke the history of this town with its stunning antiques and
upholstery. If your wedding is in summer, and you wanted a reception venue that
has local flavor, the Osteria Boccadoro restaurant will seat you all outside
and regale the party with fresh seafood and pasta.
Florence will never
disappoint. For something quiet, with an amazing view, book at Villa San
Michele, an ancient monastery, where elegant sobriety united with superb
position will make your wedding truly an event. If you prefer to be based in
town, the Four Seasons is undeniably the most extravagantly beautiful hotel in
the city, and it has a spa and pool and impeccably maintained private park.
Another choice is the Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni is a fresh take on the
traditional pensione, and is right off the Arno.
Hotel 47 is a fresh
retreat in the Eternal City. From there you can keep wedding guests involved
while you get the final touches in place for the big day. If you need a restaurant
for your reception, Il Convivio da
Troiani is obsessed with excellence. They
make their own bread using flour guaranteed free from pesticides and
chemicals, and that is only an indication of the care they put into each dish. The
atmosphere is light and welcoming, perfect for a wedding lunch or supper.
Italy however is much
more that these important cities, let yourself be lured into the hilltowns of
Pienza, Pitigliano, or Monteriggioni, the seaside destinations such as the Amalfi
coast, Castiglone della Pescaia, or the Cinque Terre, or even the mountain
retreats such as Cortina or Gubbio. As they say, there are only two problems
with Italy, the food and the wine: you can’t get enough of either! So sit back
and discuss Italy together, any plan you choose will be just as good you expect
it to be.
